Some of you asked for poems about grand topics like inner beauty and world peace. But then, there was the misty-eyed Mom who wanted a poem to give her tall, sarcastic, handsome, seventeen-year-old son. There was the eager eight-year-old who wanted a poem for her Dad, who she described as "brave." One of my favorites: the freckled little girl who wanted one about her fish named Bryan (who is now swimming in "fish heaven.")
I wrote for the bright and lively little boy who wanted a verse that included his three favorite animals: a bear, a cheetah and a moray eel. I even wrote an ode to a puppy named Lola. To all of these beautiful strangers: Thank you for allowing me to tap in to the delicious details of your lives for a few moments. I get to hear you, see you, feel your hearts and co-create with you...typing out a sacred snapshot. Yup, that's what I'm doing behind that old typewriter of mine. And I could do it forever.
